15.8. Nadja rakennuksella ja minä Helsingissä

Pari viikkoa vierähtänyt kirjoituspöydän ääressä syksyisessä Helsingissä. Ihan kuin olisi lomalla, vaikka toimistolla vierähtääkin usein pitkälle iltaan. Nadjalla on ollut kiirettä talomme kimpussa. Tässä tunnelmia Hampurista.

It is moving – we are moving!

Although not yet… The Electrician is almost done. 2 month of hard work, trying to fix new lines and strips. Taking the old ones away, opening and closing walls. And opening and closing walls. Here is to thank Mr Möller for his remarkable job and also for being so involved in our project! He is leaving on holiday today and when he is back he will only install all plates for the new plugs. The kitchen is almost in! Technical devices and cupboards. Light installation. Also Mr Pätzold is doing with his Co-worker a great job. Trying to see what oneself is seeing and helping me, who has a lack of 3-D thinking.

The floors are finished!

Last week no one could really walk in the house. So Holger used the time to be finally for a week on holiday. Mr Möller started the work in the basement and Jyrki and I painted the old furniture which we bought with the house. Upstairs came the sound of heavy machines – the floor was given a good scrub. And it is wonderful looking –shiny nice old pitch pine. The cost of this wood would be nowadays around 90 Euros per square meter. All the floors have now the nice shiny wood and we have to learn to fly through the house so it will stay that nice.

The burn damage!

Dealing with the insurance is not that nice. They check and will come back to you…. Again we came to the point, that taking the burned pieces will not do it. But the insurance refused to pay for a fire-specialist. Then we found out that our house-fire insurance is in charge and they get the money back from the other sights insurance. That makes things easier. And at once they came to check the damage. It will be easy to remove, because we weren't sure, if the burned parts would be so called special-trash. But since it is all wood, no problem. I hope next week we will be able to order the window and to give the order to Herr Gressmann to fix the floor. Otherwise our daughter will be very disappointed, if she can't move into her room! And Holger can't paint the wall before the floor is done. Asking for cost estimation is a hard job. And people lie and that makes me mad. They tell you it is in the mail, investigate when nothing is arriving then they are saying“ oh, it got lost on so and so`s desk but now I will mail it“. NOTHING! I wonder what they will say when I call this time? „Oh, we had no power“ ( I guess you are right) „It hasn't arrived – how strange. I will send it again“. The fact that things take time – ok. But not saying what the deal is, makes me really mad. Why would I like to give them an order?
